Mentor the clinician not the stats.
In the medical and allied health world, we have all heard the adage to treat the patient not the condition.
But what about mentor the clinician not the stats?
My client Darron reminded me of this teaching adage with his opening line at a conference he presented at a couple of weeks ago on the topic of TMD (for simplicity - jaw pain):
"What is the jaw connected to?"
Priming the audience to say the "TMJ" (the joint that connects the jaw)
The answer - "the patient"
It's easy to get caught up in the technical details and forget about the human aspect of care. The same applies to employers analysing clinical stats. And don’t get me wrong, statistics are crucial, and here at Tagence, we take pleasure in crafting detailed reports, organising data into clear tables, and translating information into actionable KPIs and measurable objectives. But while data is crucial, there needs to be an emphasis on the importance of going beyond numbers and truly educating your team on how to drive improvement.
When a patient visits a clinic, their judgment of the appointment's success extends far beyond clinical outcomes. Factors like cleanliness, friendly staff, and feeling heard all play a role. The actual treatment often falls lower on the list of priorities.
To truly elevate our services and empower our clinicians, we must look beyond clinical stats and focus on holistic mentorship that enhances the patient experience and fosters growth in our team. Get that down pat and the numbers will follow.
How can Tagence help you with this balancing act?
Patient journey tracking & satisfaction scores
Emphasis on patient journey. We help you get the data but still keep the main thing the main thing. Why do we do what we do?
Automations for number crunching
No need to manually count data and look for trends. We can implement integrations to help save you time and get accurate, live stats.
Clinical dashboards
Monitoring your staff's clinical performance is crucial for detecting trends and understanding the bigger picture. However, remember that the clinician's input is essential in completing the narrative.
Structured mentoring
It can be hard to make the time or know what to cover in the limited time you do set aside with your staff. We can help with that.
